Bricks and Mortar

With all the things that are necessary to keep up with a house that was built in 1952, a patio was one of those luxury home improvements that we hoped we could do one day. When our planned trip to Spain fell through due to Ted’s new job we decided this was the year to reward ourselves with a new patio in the backyard.  Since we aren’t the DIY kind of couple, which might be the biggest understatement of the year (please refer to the only tool kit we own, the “DO IT HERSELF” set that my dad gave me before I left for college) we decided to hire a company to do the patio for us.  After a week of watching my lawn get destroyed and feeding beers to the guys working outside in hopes that they would work through the rain, our patio is complete!  We haven’t been able to put our new outdoor furniture or grill on the patio yet, but I couldn’t wait to share our backyard transformation.  I’ll update pictures once we get the furniture out there.

Our very sad “before” backyard.  As you can see I took a great deal of pride in my landscaping. Ha. Good Lord! How embarrassing!

It was hard to imagine at this point what it was going to look like.

I’m liking it….I’m liking it…

The beautiful walkway to…..

…Our beautiful new Patio!

Cheers to many wonderful summer evenings outside!
