Pretzel Turtles

Around holiday time we have a lot of people over to our house.  Whether it is an unexpected visit or a planned dinner party, Ted and I love to have our home full of friends and family.  It’s always nice on these occasions to have something out for our friends & family to snack on.  Pretzel Turtles are perfect for this.  The recipe is easy, fast, delicious and is a really inexpensive way to enjoy something sweet.  I love the fact that you can have homemade candy for your guests in about 10 minutes total.  Here is the recipe for delicious Pretzel Turtles.

What You Need:

  • Mini Pretzels
  • Rolo Candies (yum!)
  • Pecan Halves
  • Optional: white chocolate for drizzling

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees.  Place your mini pretzels on a parchment lined baking sheet.

Place the Rolo candy on top of each pretzel.  Place the pan in the oven for 3-4 minutes, tops!  You want the chocolate to look “melty” but you don’t want it fully melted.  Make sure the chocolate is warm but that the Rolo is still holding its shape.

Take the halved pecans and gently press them into the middle of the Rolo so that the pecan is sitting in a little bed of chocolately heaven!  I suppose you could use a different nut as well, anything would be delicious.

Have the candies cool down before you serve, although I recommend a couple of them straight out of the oven.  I’ve seen recipes where people drizzle white chocolate on the top and I’ve seen other recipes where people put M&Ms in the center as well.  You can get creative with these.
