Flip Cup 2011

For the past few years my friends and I have dressed up in ridiculous (award-winning) costumes to drink beer and flip cups all afternoon in the name of charity. The now infamous flip cup tournament has been going strong for the past 10 years, my team has been active participants for the past 5.  The great news is that the flip cup tournament raises thousands of dollars for local charities, the cystic fibrosis foundation being one of the beneficiaries of this event over the years.  The even better news is that flip cup brings together friends from all over the country to participate in one of the most fun weekends of the year.  The hangover is worth it.  This year, my flip cup team stayed true to our trademark, wearing a costume that makes us look terrible.  I mean it, really terrible, like, truly ugly!  Ted’s good friend Matt Moran said it well when I was trying to explain that my flip cup costume made me look really ugly.  He said, “Murph, it’s not like you’ve ever picked flip cup costumes over the years that enhance your good looks!”  Solid point Moran.

I loved having all the boys sleep over at our house and I loved cooking them a huge meal before the tournament. Here are some great pictures from the day…

Flip Cup practice, a must.

Pre-competition feast.

Getting ready for the big day.

“The Addams Family…da da da dum, snap, snap!”

I’m thinking about blowing this up and putting it in our child’s bedroom someday.

Flip Tropics: best looking flip cup team!  Where is the token hottie, Hogan?

Things get serious.

Our performance was embarrassing this year. Oh well, there’s always next year. I won’t blame it on our stand in this year, I wouldn’t ever do that.

When you are out of the tournament early, there nothing else to do but drink beer, take pictures and oh yeah…this….

Yup, that’s Jack’s mom.

Here is my team over the past 5 years.  A 2 time “best costume” winnner! Completely robbed of the title in our 3rd year, but I’m not competitive about this AT ALL.

Best Costume Winner: The Golden Girls

Best Costume Winner: The Today Show

Robbed of the Best Costume Winner (ha): Oompa Loompas

Amazing pics Murph! Maybe you should blow up the one of Gretch and hang that in Jack’s room. Had a blast with you as always!

    Hahahaha! “That’s Jack’s mom.”
    Poor kid. Love those pictures.
